Outage: December 7, 2021 10:30 AM - 5:30 PM ET
Incident Description: On 12/7/2021, AWS experienced a major outage from 10:30am-5:30pm ET across multiple regions. As a result, the Vistar ad server was unable to reliably pace and budget campaigns. This impacted direct, PMP and open exchange campaigns. Third party DSP and house campaigns were not affected and no data was lost during the outage.
Products Impacted:
- Vistar’s DSP - Open Exchange and PMP campaigns
- Vistar’s Ad Server - Direct orders
Resolution:
Because this impacted all media owners, no revenue was lost. Once AWS fixed the issue, all media owners began to serve campaigns again and the ad server worked to make up for lost time. This brought all campaigns back on pace.
Lastly, the outage caused a slight increase in error rates and latencies when sending ad requests to our ad server but impact was minimal.
